Dear Sufia,

I don’t know where to begin.

All that is still fresh in my head is when right around this time, the night before, the nurses took a few notes and told me how I won’t be able to ‘survive’ without epidural – having contractions from midnight until 11 hours later, until that moment when the doctor said, ‘ok dah fully dilated, it’s pushing time’.

Few more of those and you popped out! Girl, you had the loudest cry, your Wan thought I just gave birth to a one year old. And now that you are 1.. (oh God I can’t believe that you’re already 1!) I just can’t picture myself not having you around. Thank you for the laughs, cries, bumps and bruises. It has been nothing but the best year of our life by far.

Happy Birthday, baby girl.

Sayang, Ibu.

May

Time flies! Fast! May is here and it could only mean one thing..

Somebody is turning 1 year old inshaAllah! Another 2 weeks to be exact. I’ll try to get her milestones up here just to see how she’s doing these past few months. A lot has changed and she’s learning fast. Too fast that sometimes I couldn’t even catch up. Alhamdulillah.

On the other hand, I’ll try NOT to post an entry per month. That is just.. sad.

Dear Sufia,

Now tell me, where on earth did time fly? I remember like it was just yesterday when I gave birth to this 3.6kg chubby baby girl, time passed and you’re approaching 11 months now? I can’t hardly keep up, every day you discover something new, it’s beyond me. Milestones you ask? Well, for starters, still no teeth and still can’t walk but not to worry – you’re taking your own sweet time, why the rush? And the babbling, my God your babbling! It has to be one of many things I look forward to every day. Your recent favorite word has got to be ‘Dah?’ – yes, with a question mark. You see me rubbing my hands off after I’m done with a few chores and you’ll go, ‘Dah?’. Ye, ibu dah habis kemas, jom sambung main blocks.

You crawl so fast now that it’s impossible to look away, not even a second (although, I may have done it once or twice – you bolted, trying to swing open the front door). I can tell you’re just down right bored and preferred to have a quick chat with the cats outside of our house. You love those furballs.

You dance and sing now. Clapping your hands to any song you hear – even the ones chiming from the wall clock. That’s partially my fault. I’ve been excessively gluing you to the cartoon channel just so I can get my chores done. It doesn’t work most of the time, you’ll resort to screaming once you realize that I was gone (or the cartoon show just got boring). The house is still looking like a big pile of mess, though.

I can’t wait for you to turn one and to many years to come! – and your smile! No, we can never get enough of it. Thank you, baby girl.

Sayang,
Ibu.

I have to admit, landscape pictures aren’t my forte and I usually hesitate taking the camera out whenever I see a beautiful scenery. Well, right off the bat, I am just not good at it. Simple as that. Don’t think I can ever do justice to how truly beautiful the scenery really is. Nothing can compare to what’s right in front.

But I have to put these up here mainly because I miss the roadtrip and I miss the occasional stop by the side of the road just soaking a little bit of heaven on earth. What a view. SubhanAllah.

I got the chance to visit New Zealand a little while back with the rest of the family. It was the first 11 hour flight that Sufia had to endure but I must say, I was stunned to see how relaxed she was the entire time we were on board.

We first arrived at Christchurch with weather that was just about right. I’ve got the pictures and time frame all jumbled up now so I will randomly show you the highlights while we were there. Meanwhile, here’s the beautiful, Willowbank Wildlife Reserve, Christchurch. I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Will write more on our next stop in coming entries.
